KIS/KAG User to User Support

  • Hi all. I have just bought the all the Kohan games though Steam. I have been having issues with the game starting up. I have been through everything on the steam support website but have been unable to find a solution. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
I have attached the error log but not sure what other info you may need.

    thanks for the help

  • Don't see the attached log (might not have been uploaded - double check).

What is the exact error message you are getting?

I assume you tried the usual: restart Steam, verify game files, run Steam as admin, etc.?

  • When I click on the short cut it initializes steam and then says

"Kohan.exe has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution becomes available."
I have tried all of the things you mentioned

  • Sorry for the delayed response - was away on vacation and was supposed to get reply notifications...but didn't. I don't have Kohan on Steam and looking over their forums I didn't see anything that looked like a similar problem.

But lets try adding Kohan to the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) list if you already haven't tried it:

Control Panel -> System and Security -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance -> Settings

Data Execution Prevention (tab) -> Add (browse to the Kohan exe and select it)

For me, this usually clears up "has stopped working" errors and in fact is the way I got Kohan 2 to run on Win 7. I don't remember if I did this with KIS or KAG. Which I guess is another question - which OS are you using?

Other things to try are various compatibility settings like Disable visual themes and/or desktop composition (right click on shortcut or exe)
